This is a 1964 San Francisco Giants Season Replay using Out of the Park Baseball. More details on this project can be found on our About Retro Baseball Page,

April 15, 1964

The Braves had to overcome a fine performance from San Francisco pitcher Gaylord Perry to grab a 7-2 win. Perry allowed 1 earned run over 9 innings. Milwaukee reliever Bobby Tiefenauer picked up the win to move to 1-0. Bob Shaw suffered the loss.

The win leaves Milwaukee with a record of 1-1. Rico Carty hit a run-scoring double off Bob Shaw in the top of the tenth, which put the Braves in front, 3-2. In addition to the double, Carty had 1 single, while going 2 for 5. "It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Carty told reporters after the game.

The Giants are now 1-1 on the season and trail the Phillies by one game in the NL. The Giants are home again tomorrow afternoon as the Cardinals come in. Ron Herbel will get the start for the Giants while Ray Sadecki will take the mound for the Cards, In the AL, the Angels are in first place by themselves after a 2-0 start.
