Giants Walk Off Dodgers on Opening Day

April 13, 1954

The Giants and Dodgers aren't expected to contend this season but the future is bright for both of them as they both boast a loaded minor league system. The rivals got togehter on Opening Day in the Polo Grounds and played a classic.

The Giants got bad news early in the game as their ace Jeremy Brown had to leave the game in the third inning with a blister. The Giants hadto piece the rest of the game together with their bullpen. Their bullpen didn't disppoint giving the Giants a 2-1 lead heading into the ninth inning. However, the Dodgers down to their final out fought back when James Jensen tripled to center to drive in the tying run.

In the bottom of the 9th inning Matt Stump of the Giants showed off his power driving a blast to left centerfield. The ball wouldn't come until it went 528 feet and it gave the Giants a 3-2 walk off Opening Day win over the Giants.
