Yankees' Ace Injured, Out for Two Months

 Tuesday, April 13th, 1954

The New York Yankees learned that Mark St. Croix is likely to be out for 8 weeks after he injured himself throwing a pitch in today's game against the Washington Senators. A round of tests by the team doctor revealed the injury to be a strained hamstring. Upon hearing the diagnosis, the New York manager told the press, "As you all know, we can't control injuries -- they are a part of the game. We just have to do the best we can until Mark is back in action."
